Even if your little ones don't have any changes happening due to the end of term, the summer holidays can create a real shift in our routines and can bring some added pressure to your day. Social media can often create unrealistic expectations of how you should be spending your days with endless options of what you could do often resulting in costly and sometimes stressful days.

So what can you do?

As we most things that help relief stress, planning and preparation are key but to be mindful in not adding the pressure, remembering that the slower days are just as important as the jam packed ones.

Planning and Preparation

  • Get the calendar out and get those play dates booked in - connect with the people that get it! Set up polls on What's app, find a date that works and book it - your future self will thank you. Now I wouldn't be able to pass up the opportunity to encourage you to come to us for one of these catch ups so I will pop the booking link below.

  • Make time for slower days and make play a focus of your day. The thought of a living room full of toys can fill you with fear, but let us give you some advice, less is more! Take some time to notice how your little one plays, what are they interested in and what do they actually do with the toys - trust us when we say you will learn so much that can then help you to then shape their play.

  • Traveling with children can also feel stressful - choosing the toys that they will want to play with over and over and not forgetting that one toy that they will surely request! Zip lock bags are fantastic for this - choose open ended resources - those that have multiple play opportunities alongside their favourites.

At the Playhub we have created some themed travel packs with activity ideas to make travelling with little ones even easier. Remember that play doesn't have to be complicated.

Our Playhub Shop also has loads of resources perfect for taking away or adding to day trips - here are a couple of my favourites...
